About the studio
A design studio that grew out of a workshop
Sworharts Interiors LLC has worked on Montana homes since 2016. We are small on purpose: five people, a shared calendar, and one person who owns your project from first call to final walkthrough.
Our story
In 2016, Mary Davis rented half a workshop on Pine Street to build a run of oak shelving for a neighbour who could not find anything that fit an 1890s Helena wall. Two more neighbours asked. By the following spring the shelving had turned into whole kitchens, and Sworharts Interiors LLC was registered in Lewis & Clark County.
Ten years on we no longer build furniture ourselves — we would rather commission it from people who do it better. What survived from those years is a bias toward the physical: real samples on a real table, drawings dimensioned to the sixteenth, and a preference for materials that can be repaired instead of replaced.
What we believe
A good room is mostly decisions you never notice: where the light switch lands, how wide the walkway is behind a dining chair, whether the rug is big enough that the front legs of the sofa sit on it. We spend our time on those, then let a few honest materials do the talking.
We do not chase trends, and we will tell you when a project does not need a designer. Twice a year we send someone away with a page of notes and no invoice.

Owner of the business, lead on every full-home project. Studied architectural drafting at Helena College and spent six years in residential millwork before starting the studio.

Runs single-room work and drawing sets. Elena is the one who notices your radiator is 40mm off centre before the cabinets are cut.

Procurement & scheduling
Purchase orders, freight, damaged-in-transit claims and the master schedule. Fifteen years in furniture logistics.
Nia Coleman
Styling & textiles
Sources rugs, art and soft goods, and runs installation days. Keeps the studio inventory in the Pine Street back room.
Ben Iverson
Site coordinator
On site with the trades. Ben handles snags, deliveries and the awkward conversation when a wall is not where the survey said.
