About Lawson
Lawson Sworh was born and raised in Liberia. He attended St. Philip High School in Gardnersville, Liberia and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Africa Literature College in Kitwe, Zambia.
He is the author of *A Poetic Vision in Bits and Pieces*. His work has been featured through Amnesty International and the United Nations. His paintings hang in the Capitol in Monrovia and in the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C. He also served as president of the Union of Liberian Artists (2010–2012) and leads “Kreative Kolors,” an organization training up-and-coming artists.
Despite the lasting impact of Liberia’s civil war, Lawson has worked with former combatants and youth through UNICEF-supported programs, using art as rehabilitation and creative empowerment.
His paintings reflect Liberian cultural heritage and African daily life, using vibrant color and detail to tell stories of community and resilience.
